Common Name: Sweet Almond Oil
Latin Name: Prunus amygdalus var. dulcis
Shelf Life: 6-9 months
Description: This carrier oil is derived from the nut kernel of the
Almond. It is a very pale yellow oil with a slight nutty odor. It
contains olein glyceride linoleic acid and is rich in minerals,
vitamins and proteins.
Uses:
This is a very good massage oil and is beneficial for dry skin and
helps relieve itching, soreness and dryness. It is reported to be
soothing, healing, lubricating, softening, revitalizing and nourishing.
Skin Types: Excellent for all skin types, especially dry skin. Also
good for sensitive or irritated skin.
Notes:
This oil is heavier than many others and may stain the sheets if you
massage it in.
Warning: Do not confuse this oil with Bitter Almond Essential Oil. That
particular oil is NEVER used in aromatherapy as it may cause prussic
acid poisoning.
Dilutions
of 1
- 3% are usual
when blending essential
oils with carrier oils. Carrier oils can be used alone or as blends.
