Jojoba
Oil
Common Name: Jojoba
(pronounced ho hoba)
Latin Name: Simmondsia chinesis
Shelf Life: Indefinite
Description:
This is not really an oil but a liquid wax which is derived from the
jojoba bean. It is very similar to our own body oils such as sebum. It
is rich in Vitamin E and will not turn rancid, as other oils, as it has
antioxidant properties.
Uses:
This oil is not used on its own in massage as it absorbs too quickly
but is excellent for facial and body oils and hair treatments as well
as perfume bases. Good for cradle cap, infantile eczema, and dry skin
conditions.
Skin Types:
Good for all skin types. Especially lovely for aging skin and wrinkles.
Notes:
Because it is absorbed quickly it is not recommended for massage.
Dilutions of 1
- 3% are usual
when blending essential
oils with carrier oils. Carrier oils can be used alone or as blends.
